In an interview with Famitsu, Tetsuya Nomura revealed some titbits from Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, including some ideas that never made the final cut.
As you should know, one of the newest worlds in Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance is the Tron Legacy world known as "The Grid." Originally, Nomura intended to have Sora in the Tron world featured in Kingdom Hearts II while Riku would have his adventures in the Tron Legacy World.
Tetsuya Nomura, Director of Kingdom Hearts and a big fan of teasing his fans, has recently sat down with Japanese magazine Famitsu to talk about Kingdom Hearts 3D. The game, to be released on the future Nintendo 3DS system, is the subject of both intrigue and ridicule. Fans are shrugging off the future title as 'another KH spin-off', but in the interview, Nomura believes differently.
The most interesting facts of the interview can be seen below thanks to the translation by Heartstation.org, the interview covers some key areas regarding the gameplay and the impact it may have on the overall story.
“In 3D you will be able to play as Sora and Riku, but we are considering making their main operation systems different. In Chain of Memories they both used cards but they used them differently. We’re thinking about having two types of play styles like that.”
“Even though it’s a secret as to why Sora and Riku appear in their Kingdom Hearts outfits, it’s essential for the story.”

This month's edition of Famitsu magazine included a small booklet that contained an interview with Kingdom Hearts composer Yoko Shimomura.
According to the booklet, Shimomura started out learning music at a very early age and studied it during college, a job oppurtunity with Capcom presented itself and soon Shimomura's music was featured in games such as 'Street Fighter 2' and 'Breath of Fire'.
Shimomura found her creativity to be limited at Capcom and soon sought to compose music for the RPG (Role-playing game) genre, namely games at Square-Enix. Among 'Super Mario RPG' and 'Live A Live', Shimomura was given the oppurtunity to work on the Kingdom Hearts series.
