The original cast of Kingdom Hearts has very noticeably been left out of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep since it was original revealed years ago, until now. Kairi has been spotted in the latest Shonen Jump scan, the same scan that highlighted Zack Fair very prominently.
Kairi however, is tiny on the scan, to the point that she almost can't be seen. We've taken the original scan and clipped the part you can see her in though, which you can view below.
This leads us on to questioning whether or not any other main characters from previous Kingdom Hearts will make appearances in the new title.
Shonen Jump magazine has revealed that fan-favourite Zack Fair, of Final Fantasy VII and Crisis Core fame, will be joining the cast of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. Exciting news as Zack has often been left out of special appearances, however ever since Crisis Core he has risen among the fan-favourite ranks.
Much like Cloud Strife in the first Kingdom Hearts, Zack will be a lone soldier in Birth by Sleep's Olympic Colosseum. As the game is set 10 years before the first Kingdom Hearts, and Zack is Cloud's elder, the setting is quite appropriate for Zack.
In the magazine Zack is supposedly shown facing with main character, Terra. Ven however seems to get along with Zack just fine. Knowing Zack though, he's probably just competing with Terra, and not his enemy.
Further details have come to light with regards to the latest issue of jump magazine, when a scan of the full page became available. The new character known, as Master Eraqus, is in fact a Keyblade Master. Not only this, some information regarding the gameplay was revealed. For those interested in how the Keyblade Master looks see the image below.
It appears that there will be a system known as Board Points which players use to upgrade abilities. Essentially the process involves a mini game where players roll dice on a board and aim to gain as much BP as they can before they reach the goal.
It's also apparent that this board game type mini-game will also have special events that will trigger when a player lands on a certain panel. Such events mentioned include having other characters appear to take BP from opponents. It's a little bit hazy as to how this is implemented, but more details will be announced nearer release.
As previously stated we already know Lilo and Stitch are due to feature their own world in Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. Having previously talked about the latest edition of Jump Magazine here.
It's now possible to actually see a new scan from the same magazine, depicting some screenshots from the new world "Deep Space".Previously it was unknown what capacity they would appear in, but it's now known that Stitch will appear as a support character. Gantu from Lilo and Sitch will also feature as a boss battle, and we also get to see some of Aqua's abilities.
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep is coming out exclusively on the Sony PSP and is scheduled for release in Japan during December, 2009. There is still yet to be a confirmed western release date.
