One of the most iconic films to date, was and is, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (released in 1993). The main character from the film, Jack Skellington, features heavily as a playable character in Kingdom Hearts. Also known as the "Pumpkin King" by the residents of Halloween Town, he attempts to create the most scary Halloween yet, using the Heartless as entertainment.
Unfortunately , his plan doesn't quite go according to plan and the Heartless manage to cause considerable problems in Halloween Town. At which point Sora arrives to help save the day. With the assistance of Sora, they manage to put a stop to the Heartless and defeat Oogie Boogie in the process. Unfortunatly for Jack though, time has run short on Halloween this year and instead he proposes to make next years' Halloween even more special as compensation.
Kingdom Hearts: Chains of Memories
Main Character
(^Top) Jack Skellington returns in Chains of Memories, but instead of requesting the aid of Dr. Finklestein to produce hearts for the heartless, he him to make a memory potion for them. His plan is again, to try and make them entertain people during Halloween.

After being involved with some original stories in the previous Kingdom Hearts titles, in Kingdom Hearts 2, Jack Skellington is involved in a plot that's much more remiscant of the actual film. He tries to take Santa's place upon finding Christmas Town, but as usual, things don't necessarily go to plan.
By helping Sora defeat Oogie Boogie once more, he learns that his priorities lie with Halloween and not Christmas and he hands over his santa suit to Sora enabling access to a new world.
Later on in the game Sora returns to help Jack once more, as he is being blamed for the presents going missing at Santa's factory. Their plan is rather ingenius and they lie in wait inside a giant present for the thief to show up. The culprint turns out to be one of Dr. Finklestein's experiments, and the two manage to save Christmas once again. Sally also takes Jack to one side and explains that Christmas is not just about presents, but more the wish to give something to someone to fill them with joy.
