Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix seems to be the topic that most Kingdom Hearts fans are talking about. The PSP title is of course a revised version of Birth by Sleep that came out earlier this year on the same platform. But even though the Final Mix version seems to be nothing more than an expansion pack, it's this expansion pack that has warranted its very own website along with a strong following of fan support. Well, at least in Japan.
It is with this support that Square Enix had decided to create the Birth by Sleep Final Mix Website. Packed with the 'latest' news, videos and screens for fans to drool over while they wait for the actual game on the 20th of January, 2011. There isn't a lot of content besides a few new images and information on characters, worlds and the game itself (in Japanese), but what is exciting is that the trailer from this year's Tokyo Game Show has been made available to watch.
Tetsuya Nomura, Director of the Kingdom Hearts series, whose hobbies include being interviewed constantly, has once again been interviewed. The Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded Ultimania has revealed a second interview with Nomura as well as the first which can be read here.
As the Re:Coded Ultimania is considered a guide of sorts, the interview contains spoilers that may ruin the game for some fans. If you do not wish to possibly ruin the story for yourselves then i suggest you do not read on.
The Official Kingdom Hearts Facebook page yesterday revealed that they would be revealing a "BIG announcement" today regarding Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded. With much anticipation, fans glued themselves to their computer screens today to find out what the announcement was.
STICKERS!!!
That's right, an exclusive icon decal set is available to fans who pre-order the game from Amazon.com or Gamestop for its release on the 11th of January next year. Not really the big announcement that fans were hoping for but a free sticker set is still a nice 'little' bonus. Each sheet of stickers will contain 32 decals as seen in the picture, fans may use them as they seem fit, whether to decorate their Nintendo DS or stick them onto dice to make some sort of Kingdom Hearts related bug block, but maybe that's just me.
Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded will be available in North America on the 11th of January and in Europe on the 14th. For those that pre-order the game, enjoy your stickers!
Birth by Sleep Final Mix has been dated for release in Japan by Square Enix today, confirming that the game will be arriving on store shelves on the 20th of January, 2011. The game is in fact a revision of both the previous Japanese and International versions and will be priced at 6,090 yen on the day of release.
The new date confirmed by Square Enix is a week earlier than previous news had suggested. This is good news for fans as waiting for games is usually an unsettling experience. Square Enix have previously teased the game's extra content but have now compiled a list of all the features in somewhat vague descriptions as seen below.
Kingdom Hearts sites are usually updated with more worlds, characters and videos but it's not often that they get a full overhaul. The Official Kingdom Hearts website for Japan has been fully revised, with a cleaner, classier look than before.
Unfortunately, the website is still aimed at the Japanese audience, so anything further than the main menu is still very much in Japanese. But all are welcome to take a look at the site in this link.
In other news, the cover of the Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded Ultimania was revealed alongside a brief summary of the game. The summary is said to describe the game's plot but without a direct translation it is hard to say. Avid readers of Kingdom Hearts news will no doubt know Re:Coded's plot already but for those who don't can read it below.
Sora’s journey in KINGDOM HEARTS II has drawn to a close, and now a new tale is set to begin. Jiminy Cricket is looking over the journal he used to document his first adventure with Sora when he discovers a mysterious message. He didn’t write it – so how did it get there?
King Mickey is determined to find out, so he and his friends decide to digitise the journal and delve into its deepest secrets. Inside this “datascape” dwells a second Sora who is about to embark on a grand adventure of his very own
Tetsuya Nomura, Director of the Kingdom Hearts series, was interviewed recently in Nintendo Dream. Nomura spoke about Kingdom Hearts 3D mostly and merely touched on the recently released Re:Coded.
The full interview is currently being translated by KHInsider but they did manage to supply the following details leaving fans anticipating the full translation.
The atmosphere in KH3D will be different from other titles. There will be new worlds. KH3D will be close to how CoM had a story for Sora and Riku, but it's not like they are going to be separated in this adventure. Nomura wants to add three new "elements" to KH3D, things that wouldn't be possible to do on any console other than Nintendo 3DS. Nomura is thinking about more titles apart from KH3D.
Re:Coded's ending and BBS' secret movies give hints as to what Sora has to do in future titles.
It is interesting to note that Nomura will be introducing three new "elements" that are only possible with the Nintendo 3DS. We know that 3D must be one of them but what of the other two? Looks like we will all have to wait until Nomura reveals more, or the game's release.
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, the Japanese exclusive revision of Birth by Sleep, will be released in Japan early next year. Yet details of the game's additional content has already been revealed and debated among the Kingdom Hearts community.
Unfortunately, there are no further details on the game in question, but scans have been made available for all Kingdom Hearts fans. Seen below are images containing the new Monstro battle that players will face and a few extras such as the Neverland Command Board and the Ice Cream mini-game.
Check out the rest of the scans in our full story.
The official release date for Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix has recently surfaced in the latest issue of Shonen Jump. The game will be hitting store shelves in Japan on the 27th of January, 2011.
Also, Famitsu has given us some more details about some of the newly added features in the game:
Mirage Arena Boss Monstro. The mission for facing this giant whale is called "Monster of the Deep." When fighting him on the outside, he tries to inflict damage by flying through the air and using a "Jump" attack. If dodged, Monstro ends up beached on land offering a chance to attack. After every 3 minutes of the battle, Monstro swallows up the player forcing them to fight the Unversed lying in wait inside. This task is made even more difficult for players as they have to stay away from the whale's stomach acid, which in turn causes damage if touched.
