It looks like in a short month Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days has more than doubled its sales in North America. According to a recent Square Enix financial report, the title has sold 590,000 units since launch, and it sold 201,000 units in September alone.

There are many reasons for this supposed success - including word of mouth due to the multiplayer component, the increasingly forceful marketing on the part of Disney, and the general strength of the series in North America as a whole. Still, the title definitely surpassed expectations, considering the lack of third party software success on the Nintendo DS, and the rampant piracy the handheld is plagued with. This is definitely one of the few recent success stories for the RPG juggernaut.
