Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Reaches 623k By Second Week

JapanPSP by Nick

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep was released in Japan two weeks ago on the 9th of January and sales are looking good for the PSP exclusive title.

Reports are showing that the game has now sold over 623,000 copies with no sign of sales slowing down. It's no surprise really when you consider the fanbase behind the Kingdom Hearts series and high scores from reviewers such as Japanese magazine Famitsu with a 37/40.

It is certainly good news to hear that the game is doing so well in Japan, it may even prompt Square Enix to finally reveal a date for the Western release.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Selling Out In Japan

JapanPSP by Nick

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep was recently released in Japan on the 9th of January and it's proving to be very popular among the Japanese market.

The game was recorded to have sold 446,000 copies in a mere two days since its release with some shops in Japan claiming they had run out of the PSP title. Popularity within the Kingdom Hearts brand is surely a good thing for Square Enix and also a good thing for fans as sales could warrant another Kingdom Hearts title being placed further ahead on Square's long list of games in development.

There is still no confirmed date for a Western release of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and spoilers have already emerged online including the "secret movie" hinted in several interviews with the game's director Tetsuya Nomura. Western fans will just have to wait until Square Enix finally reveal the elusive release date.

Compared to other new mainstream titles, the latest Kingdom Hearts title under performed, but hopefully sales will pick up as Christmas approaches.
