Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance Trailer Overview
There have been quite a few translations floating around on what exactly was said and shown in the Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance trailer at TGS 2011, so here's a bit of an overview of what exactly has been revealed via this trailer.
1. Notre Dame - An Official New World
As theorized before, Notre Dame is officially one of the worlds in Dream Drop Distance. The trailer showed a scene between Riku and Quasimodo who is holding Esmerelda. Much like the other games, Quasimodo will also act as a party member should you choose to use him.
2. Neku from The World Ends With You - Guest Appearance
One of the biggest surprises in this trailer was the reveal of Neku being a part of Dream Drop Distance. He appears to be in a great deal of trouble and needs Sora's help in order to complete a "game". Neku has a timer branded on his hand which if Neku isn't able to finish his objective before the timer runs out, he'll die. No work on which other characters will share Neku's fate, but we'll keep you posted!
3. New Companions - No More Donald and Goofy
Although these new characters are super cute, Donald and Goofy will be greatly missed this game. In any case, it seems as though "Bat Bat" and "Wonder Cat" as revealed in the game's poster will take their place, however, they will act more like pets than just battle companions. You will be able to pet, ride, and fight along side your Dream Eater partners. It seems like "Bat Bat" is one of Riku's companions where as "Wonder Cat" is one of Sora's.
4. More Information On Story - Yen Sid Tells All
Yen Sid talks a lot about the purpose of Sora and Riku being in the world that they're in and how it all has to do with them fighting to become Keyblade Masters as revealed ealier this year. By opening the "Keyhole of Sleep", Yen Sid is sending Sora and Riku to a different much scarier world where, if they survive, it's reason enough to make them Keyblade Masters. While in this world, Riku and Sora must fight through Dream Eaters, goblins who eat up sleep, and find the "Key of Sleep" then bring it back to old Yen Sid.
5. Different Point of View - The 'Oh My Gosh' Moment
The trailer closed out with the viewer seeing Braig. He says to you "Xehanort! Have your memories returned?" This, of course, opens a whole new batch of theories on what on earth could be going on in this game 'behind the scenes'.
Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to play Dream Drop Distance after its Spring 2012 release in Japan.
