Nomura Could Make Kingdom Hearts Work On Wii
Our beloved series has three brand new games in the works. Nomura has stated that two of them are spin-offs, and one is the long anticipated KHIII. There is almost no doubt that Kingdom Hearts III will be for Sony's Playstation 3, but what about the other two games? Where will those be stationed?
Square Enix prevailed in their ongoing quest to dominate every system with a great game for the Nintendo DS, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. The DS worked well for Kingdom Hearts, making it the second Nintendo system that Kingdom Hearts has been on. This begs the question, has Nomura ever considered the Wii for a Kingdom Hearts game?
Logically, this move makes a lot of sense considering how wide-spread Kingdom Hearts is becoming. It is crossing system barriers and still coming out strong. But could the Wii become the downfall of Nomura's conquest?
We have to look at Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers for the Wii. This game was four years in the making and many people think it wasn't worth it. Crystal Bearers was a sequel to the first FF Nintendo title, Crystal Chronicles for Gamecube. Chronicles itself was a fairly decent game, with strong graphics for the system it was on. But Crystal Bearers failed many intrigued gamers. Many things didn't work the way they should have. It just didn't feel like a Final Fantasy game. So before Nomura decides to put Sora on the Wii, he first must realize what went wrong with Crystal Bearers and make sure that it doesn't happen to Kingdom Hearts.
I could see many things going right with a Kingdom Hearts Wii title. Swinging your Wii remote to attack with your Keyblade could put Kingdom Hearts fans in a whole new experience, one new to Kingdom Hearts. Especially with Wii MotionPlus, what if Kingdom Hearts turned out similar to the successful Red Steel 2? If Kingdom Hearts wants to try this strange system, certain conditions must be met, and accurate controls are a big one. The camera is one other huge deal. If the team fails to meet these conditions then many fans could be permanently turned off from Kingdom Hearts. They could become annoyed at the way that Nomura is spreading Kingdom Hearts too thin; and then, they may not even feel like playing Kingdom Hearts III.
Is the Kingdom Hearts team able to dominate every system? Not sure how, but everything worked out okay for 358/2 Days. It felt entirely similar to Kingdom Hearts 2, I was shocked and impressed. If Square Enix can recreate that but with an intuitive and even more interactive Kingdom Hearts experience, then I think a Kingdom Hearts Wii game could be a success. It has potential, let's just hope that if it happens it will have the same polish and care that every Kingdom Hearts game has had to this point.
