Japanese magazine Famitsu are currently paying tribute to its fans' favourite characters with Kingdom Hearts' main character Sora being one of those chosen. Famitsu have therefore interviewed Sora's creator Tetsuya Nomura on the birth of Sora and the possible future of the Kingdom Hearts series.
Sora's original design was meant to be a mix between a lion and a human, incorporating a tail and beast-like ears. Sora was also meant to wield a chainsaw instead of the Kingdom Hearts now iconic weapon, the Keyblade. Because of the similarities between the original Sora and Final Fantasy IXs' character Zidane, Nomura and Disney decided to make a few modifications and create the character you know today.
Sora is set to appear in future Kingdom Hearts titles but Nomura could not state which ones. He does however mention that either the Kingdom Hearts Tokyo team, who are currently working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, or the Osaka team, who have recently finished Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, could be responsible for the character's next appearance.
Lastly, Nomura commented on Kingdom Hearts 3, "Regarding 3, fans and partners alike are pressing us for it, so we'll work to realize it as soon as possible."
It is safe to say we can expect an official Kindom Hearts 3 announcement very soon. Western fans however are still awaiting the release date for Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep.
